About the app
What age is it for?
Ages 6 to 12, the Dutch primary years 3 to 8. A short placement test sees where your child really is, and from there the level moves with every answer. A child who already knows the tables does not get stuck on number bonds.
It is too easy or too hard. Now what?
Usually the app sorts that out itself: the level moves with every answer, and whatever takes too long comes back. If you want to steer, you set the year or the path in the parent dashboard — and your child can pick another step on the home screen.
Does it work without internet?
Yes, after the first time. The questions are made on the device and the progress lives on the device. Only sending it to your account, signing in and the subscription wait until there is a connection again.
Is there an app for Android or iPhone?
Yes, and there is nothing to download. Open practising in the browser and add it to the home screen: on iPhone and iPad with the share button in Safari and then «Add to Home Screen», on Android with «Install» in Chrome or in the app itself. From then on it opens as an app, straight into practising, and after the first time without internet too. A version in the App Store and Google Play is on its way.
For parents
What does it cost?
Nothing at the moment. Learnbits is still being built: there is no paywall and nothing is charged. A subscription arrives when the app is finished, and the price will be on the site before we ask for it.
How do I cancel?
Yourself, in your account, in the same place the subscription sits. No phone call, no form. What your child has practised so far stays yours.
How many children fit on one account?
Up to 4. Each child has their own animal, their own path and their own progress in every subject, and picks their own card on the home screen. One subscription covers the whole family.
How long does my child practise a day?
A session is 8 minutes of practice, 2 minutes of review and 5 minutes of play. 3 of them fit in a day; after that the app closes until tomorrow, even if your child wants more. There is no button to stretch it.
What do you keep about my child?
Without signing in, nothing: everything lives on the device. If you sign in, we keep under your account, per child, the name, the colour, the animal and what was practised — there is no child account, no email address, no photo and no chat.
For schools and teachers
Can my school use it?
Yes. You make a teacher account with your school email address and put your class in it; pupils sign in with a class code and their own card, without an email address. It is free while the app is being built, with no quote and no minimum.
Can I print worksheets?
As a teacher, yes: pick a subject, a domain, a learning line and a path, and you have a sheet of questions, with or without a help box. The sheet carries a QR code through which pupils fill in their answers, and the results land with you.
My child uses it at school and at home. Is that one profile?
No, deliberately. The school profile belongs to the school and the home profile to you; nothing flows from one to the other. Otherwise you would be looking into a class's progress, or a teacher into your family's.
